Self-worth
-
You may have spent years adapting to what was expected of you—within your family, relationships, culture, community, or social circles. You learned how to keep the peace, meet other people's needs, fit in, succeed, or survive. Those strategies may have served an important purpose at one point in your life. But many reach a place where they realize they're no longer sure what they want, what they believe, or who they are outside of those roles.
You might find yourself second-guessing your decisions, struggling to trust your instincts, or feeling disconnected from your own needs and desires. Maybe your life looks successful on paper, yet you feel disconnected from it.
For some people, this process unfolds after emotionally harmful relationships. Recovering from chronic invalidation, manipulation, coercive dynamics, betrayal, or relationships centered around another person's needs can leave you feeling disconnected from your sense of self. You may find yourself questioning your perceptions, struggling with self-trust, or trying to understand how you lost your footing in the relationship.
For others, this journey includes exploring parts of themselves that have felt hidden, misunderstood, or difficult to fully embrace—including aspects of identity, attraction, relationships, gender, culture, or the ways they experience connection and belonging in the world.
Therapy offers a space to untangle these experiences with curiosity and compassion. The goal isn't to become someone new—it's to reconnect with the person who has been there all along beneath the expectations, survival strategies, and old patterns.
